The modernisation of a Victorian five storey family terrace house in a Conservation Area along the river Thames in Hammersmith.
Originally converted to a family home and Architectural Studio in 1963 by Hans Haenlein Architects. In 2010 the Winn family bought the property with the aim of converting it back into solely a family home, Hans Haenlein Architects were appointed to carry out the work.
The entire house has been modernised and refurbished with a new laregr kitchen and dining space to the rear that opens out into the garden through a set of full width folding sliding doors. The design maintains the open feel of the house that was a key feature of the earlier work but also brings it up to date, meeting all building control requirements through the use of a sprinkler system.
Several details of the earlier work have been left intact whilst also embracing the new additions.
