This neglected estate is located about 10 minutes walk from Archway tube station in North London. Improvement measures include landscaping by Groundworks and a new Community Centre. Hans Haenlein Architects were appointed in September 2004 to design the Centre.
Together with the Fairbridge Estate Tenants Residential Association and the Elthorne Housing Task Force we have developed a brief for a single-storey building on an unused estate play court next to a derelict factory.
The centre is to be a welcoming and sustainable building and will include a green roof and solar panels. It will house a multi-purpose hall for mother-toddler groups, pensioners clubs, meetings, etc. The brief includes a social space for relaxing and communication.
