The New Malden Baptist Church is a worshipping community that meets in buildings situated on the corner of Kingston Road and Westbury Road in New Malden. The church was constructed around 1953 and the church hall and ancillary facilities were added in 1965.
The community decided in 2004 to reorder the church and to rebuild the church hall and ancillary facilities in order to increase the amount of available accommodation for community use.
Hans Haenlein Architects developed the Brief and Outline Proposals with a Development Steering Group consisting of key stakeholders in the organization and through a series of workshops with members of the church using 3D modeling techniques.
Our Deisgn Proposals rationalise the interaction between the church and the community facilities. They also achieve the much-needed additional space and provide an attractive approach and entrance to the building.
The church has been completed to a high quality using environmentally sustainable construction methods, including high thermal insulation, green roofs and a solid timber construction system.
