As a result of winning the design of the school Library in 1981 in limited competition we were appointed by the Governors as Architects for the phased modernisation of the school as a whole. With the construction of the Library we established a method (Architect-led Construction Management) of working direct with Trade and Specialist Contractors without a Quantity Surveyor, Building Services Consultant or General Contractor, which proved more economical, was quicker and provided higher standards than the traditional procurement method.
The phased modernisation, repair and improvement programme consisted of approximately 40 separate parcels of work ranging in value from £10k - £500k.
